Spencer completed his MSc in the Blay lab, investigating changes in the interactions between colorectal cancer cells and the extracellular matrix that accompany acquisition of chemotherapy resistance.

Murray carried out research in the Blay Lab as a postdoctoral fellow, studying the genetic and functional cellular changes that are due to chemotherapeutic drug resistance. He was also a popular teacher and mentor to graduate students, and retains a link with the University as an Adjunct Professor, teaching in pharmacy courses.
